Cole Ogden wins at S&B RC Speedway
S&B RC Speedway kicked off it’s 2016 Season with a bang this weekend. Entering their 3rd year track owners, Nick & Jamie decided to make some big changes in the offseason which included a complete track change and Pit Lane over haul. The track opened up Saturday morning at 8AM and by Race start time the parking lot was filled and 91 racers were showing on the Heat Sheets. The Track is huge and offers a true 1/8th scale experience with high Speed obstacles and massive air time. The triple towards the backside of the track measures 50 feet and is one of many obstacles the track throws at you each lap. The local crowd as always showed amazing support and S&B was amazed & excited about how many racers traveled from out of state. The sponsored field of racers was large and deep with speed and talent. Cole Ogden, Barry Pettit, Chandler Elliott, Blake Pickett, John McGinty, Josh Hollifield, Drip, Nick Hartman, Robin Nelson to name a few helped racers throughout the day with car setup and tire choice.
Each class was deep with talent and racing proved to be tight and competitive all day. After 3 qualifiers everyone was poised to etch their name on their trophy before nights end. Nitro 1/8 Pro Buggy main was intense… Cole Ogden, racing a REDS R5T Team Edition took off early and led the pack laying a blistering pace. They exchanged the lead back and forth for the first 4 minutes of the 30 minute main. Barry had a tire challenge which gave Cole a clean track to work with and he set it on auto pilot. Cole is a top 25 Driver in the world right now and it’s for a good reason – this kid flat out fly’s and drive the wheels off his Losi 4.0. Young Evan Vail who is a tremendous talent for Mugen finished in second behind Cole, and Barry hard charging back managed to capture 3rd place. Chandler Elliott showed great speed all day winning Pro Truggy. Blake Pickett, another young talent racing the new Associated RC8 B3 showed tremendous speed all day and had a top 3 run going in Pro Buggy before an unfortunate incident happened in pit lane. The young talent in this hobby is in the forefront and they are making a big splash and a name for themselves.
